Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been on the ferry twice, once to the Sunshine Coast, and once to Victoria. Both involved ferry rides, and both gave me a bit of time to shoot. The above shot was made from the deck of the Queen of Surrey (I think anyway), as I raced home in the evening to make it to a dinner with my parents that evening.
While in Victoria I met up with an old high school friend of mine, whom I’d fell out of touch with, but weirdly I was emailing with the night before and he said “I’m out in Victoria now, so if you’re ever out here, lets meet up”. Of course I told him that I happened to be going there the next day, and we met up at a cool little coffee shop called Cafe Fantastico. It was great to meet up with him. We were good friends all through high school, but seemed to go out different ways after graduation. The last time I met up with him was 4 years ago just before he moved out east. The shot to the right isn’t him though, just a street scene outside the cafe.
It was fun to just go and take some pictures of people without any pressure too. The whole reason for going to Victoria was because I was invited to what could best described as a “new baby viewing party”. My lovely friends D&K had just given birth to their first, and getting to see them again, meet the baby (not that he’s going to remember of course), was awesome. I tried my best not to be “that guy” taking pictures of everything, but still managed to get shots of people, babies, dogs, food… all the things.
After all the baby viewing was done (and he was totally more cute than every other baby of that age, honest) it was another fairly relaxed ferry ride back home.
