Caught this beauty of a sunset right at the end of shooting a maternity session with Tracy in Waterfront Commons Park, in Maple Ridge. I have to admit that after I shot photos of the couple (with-one-on-the-way) that I snuck back to the waterfront to capture a few shots. Ssshhh….
Honestly I find photographing people far easier than landscapes. People you can manipulate while they’re in front of you, changing their pose, adjusting the light on their faces, or telling a dirty joke to get an honest smile (I employ a long list of extremely dirty jokes for this purpose).
Landscapes are harder… you can find the exact right location (a 6 kilometre hike off the trail through bear infested woods), and exactly the right time of day (4am, obviously), and have the weather not cooperate and give you grey boring skies. Or rain. Or perfect blue skies…. ugh, boring.
Landscape photography is the supreme test of the photographer – and often the supreme disappointment. – Ansel Adams
Now and then I get lucky though, right time, right place, gorgeous sunset.
