My friend Noel Chenier has released an Android version of his excellent “Learn Photo 365” app. Actually two versions, a free and a paid version. The goal of Learn Photo365 is to get the creative juices flowing and get you out of any ruts you might be in. You have a daily prompt with a new idea from a category (or a random assignment). There are settings for a 30 day project, a 52 week project, or if you’re really up for a challenge, a full 365 photo project (I did one of these a couple of years ago!)
The free version has some limits as to what you can do with it, but let’s be honest, the full version for $3.99 is a steal.
Unfortunately I don’t have an Android phone, or I’d do a full(er) review, but here is the press release with more details:
THOUSANDS OF POTENTIAL ASSIGNMENTS
Over one hundred individual assignments, everything from camera settings, rules of composition, creative shooting techniques, photographing people, landscape and nature, and more subjects. But there are thousands of possible ideas with random objects and places, combined with techniques, environments. The scavenger hunt assignment gives you lists of terms to find with your camera…with MILLIONS of possible combinations.
PHOTO365/52WEEK/30 DAY CHALLENGE LIST
The app will generate a full assignment list for your Photo 365/52 week/30 day challenge. With the daily reminder, there should be nothing stopping you from completing it!
SELFIE 365
Into selfies? There is now a Selfie365 challenge list generator to take your selfies to a new level! Thousands of fun, creative, and maybe even challenging ideas.
FAVOURITE ASSIGNMENT LIST
You can keep all your fav assignments just a tap away!
OVER 700 EXAMPLE IMAGES
Each assignment has a series of example images to demonstrate the technique or inspire you.
DAILY REMINDER
Taking part in a 365 day challenge? Get the app to send you a reminder each day to get your photo assignment to keep you on track.
NO NETWORK REQUIRED
The app is completely self-contained and does not require a wifi or network connection. No matter where you are, you can always get an assignment.
Apps like this are important, because sometimes you hit that “I have no idea what to do” point, no matter how creative you are. Even if you have a back pocket full of “someday” projects, having a little (metaphorical) voice on your shoulder saying “maybe try something with fire today” or “why not an upside down selfie?” may get the gears turning and put you on a completely different path of creativity, letting you create something even more awesome.
